Atterbury Job Corps Center, a residential voluntary education facility for at-risk youth, located just off Hwy 31 in Edinburgh, IN, is seeking applicants for the following positions:

 

Applied Instructor - Bachelor’s Degree in Education with valid teaching certificate required. May be waived by Department of Labor temporarily in conjunction with approved development plan to acquire certification. Responsibilities include providing academic instruction to students, teaching from an approved basic education curriculum. Planning, preparing and implementing instruction units. Monitoring student’s progress. Making recommendations for curriculum revisions to ensure that it meets the applied needs of the students. Maintaining classroom discipline, student accountability, classroom appearance and organization. Working as a member of the Center Education Team in providing individual student case management, and developing the employability of students. Assisting in the programming of Career Preparation, Career Development and Career Transition.

 

Substitute Instructors (On-going recruitment) - Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid teaching certificate required for academic instructors. Bachelor’s Degree and experience or certification in the trade being taught. Responsibilities include providing academic or vocational instructions to students, teaching from approved basic education curriculum or from a vocation trade. Academics areas: Applied Math, Applied Reading, GED/HSD. Vocational Areas: business technology, construction, culinary arts, electrical, security, and welding. Must be available any day Monday through Friday, 7:45 – 4:45

 

Food Service Assistant - High School graduate or GED preferred. Must be able to obtain a local Food Handler’s/Health Certification. Must demonstrate the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance. Responsibilities include transferring food, supplies and equipment between storage areas and kitchen and/or cafeteria. Washes, peels and cores fruit and vegetables as necessary. Setting up and taking down tables and chairs, scraping, washing, and storing dishes, pot, pans and utensils. Cleaning refrigerators, stoves, ovens, and other kitchen equipment. Sweeping, mopping, waxing, and stripping wax from floors, degreasing and sanitizing vent screens and filters.

Resident Advisor - High School diploma or GED required. Prefer two years of college with emphasis in Social Sciences and prior experience working with disadvantaged youth. Residential experience in group home or college dormitory setting preferred. Candidate must be at least 21 years of age with a driving record acceptable for insurance coverage required. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly dorm by effectively controlling student behavior. Ensuring accountability of students in assigned dorms, conducting periodic bed checks. Monitoring student activity in the dorm and provides counseling and guidelines to the students. Conducting daily room scores and documents, directing students and may assist during maintenance and clean up of dorms and dorm areas. Performing dorm administrative duties, maintaining incident log and reports. May be asked to transport students to off-Center recreational and cultural activities and act as chaperone. Must be available to work evenings, overnights and weekends.

Senior Resident Advisor - Associates Degree and 1 year experience working with youth. Prefer a minimum of 3 months as a dormitory Residential Advisor. Candidate must be 21 years of age with a driving record acceptable for insurance coverage preferred. Responsibilities include supervising students in the dorm and while on Center-sponsored activities. Instructing and counseling students on social skills and assisting with leadership training. Inspecting dorm areas to ensure cleanliness, safety and attractiveness. Participating in the development and implementation of student personal and social development plans, and maintaining current and accurate records of plan. Maintaining student accountability, shift incident logs, and discipline in assigned dorm. Assisting in the development and training of Resident Advisors. Must be available to work evenings, overnights and weekends.

Recreation Advisor - High School graduate and 2 years experience in recreation. College level education in recreation may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Must be able to meet the Center’s driver’s license standards and to transport students to and from recreational activities. Responsibilities include assisting the Recreation Coordinator in planning and conducting the Center’s Recreation/Avocation activities. Organizing and supervising students’ recreation/avocation activities. Providing instructions and coaching to students in developing and improving their recreational/avocational skills. Supervising students at off-Center recreational/avocational activities. May be required to transport students to and from such activities. Ensuring students accountability. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Safety/Security Advisor - High school graduate or GED required. Requires a minimum of one year related experience in the public or private sector in security/safety and health. OSHA Certification required. Must possess a valid in-State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining the security of Center facilities and property, PBX operations, visitor control, and student accountability; ensuring Center compliance with PRH and OSHA safety and health requirements. Conducting periodic occupational health and safety inspections and surveys, routine Center wide security tours and assists with monitoring and supervision of students. Responding to emergency situations and requests, investigates all accidents/incidents under the direction of management and prepares required reports, recommending corrective actions.
